Save Your Skin

28apr09skinScientists at Britain’s Institute of Cancer Research have identified a gene that triggers cells to become cancerous after exposure to the sun. The discovery could lead to better skin cancer treatments.

Great news, but you still need to protect yourself—melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, is the leading cause of cancer death among women ages 25 to 29.

Make sure you protect your body by slathering on sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher. That way, you’ll filter at least 92 percent of the sun’s harmful rays. (The higher the SPF, the better your protection.)
